Vilma Santos excited, ready to become a mother-in-law
MANILA, Philippines – Actress and Batangas governor Vilma Santos welcomed the idea of becoming a mother-in-law soon following her son Luis Manzano and Jennylyn Mercado’s public admission of their relationship.
In an interview aired on GMA-7’s “24 Oras” on Dec. 9, Vilma enthused, “Ako, ready anytime! Baka akala naman inuunahan ko and ayoko namang ganun lumabas. Basta sa akin lang, I’m happy for them. ‘Yun lang. Pero magkaapo, para magpakasal, sa kanila lahat manggagaling ‘yon.”
She’s also grateful to the Kapuso actress for making Luis happy.
“Nagpapasalamat nga ako kay Jen dahil kita niyo naman na napaka-inspirado ng anak ko,” said the Star for All Seasons in a “TV Partol” report, Thursday.
Vilma, Luis, and Jennylyn were all present at the celebration of the founding anniversary of Batangas held in Calaca last Dec. 7. The highlight of the occasion was the singing contest, where Jennylyn served as one of the judges along with Ogie Alcasid, Jean Garcia, Gladys Reyes, Vehnee Saturno, and Lito Camo. Luis, meanwhile, hosted the program with Ruffa Gutierrez, reported “24 Oras.”
In introducing Jennylyn during the show, Vilma was caught on cam saying, “A friend of my son, a very beautiful lady, Jennylyn Mercado!
“Jen, hindi ko alam kung pa’no ka i-address, eh...”
Luis interjected and sweetly corrected his mother: “Girlfriend.” The Batangueños then roared with cheers.
Sought for comment on Vilma’s acknowledgment of her relationship with Luis, Jennylyn told ABS-CBN News, “Siyempre masarap po sa pakiramdam.”
The actress will celebrate Christmas with the Santos-Rectos, according to the “TV Patrol” report.
Still a Kapamilya
Santos also announced that she is staying Kapamilya in spite of an offer from another network. Vilma told “TV Patrol” that she owes a lot to ABS-CBN where she began her career, having appeared on the TV drama “Larawan ng Pag-ibig” and on the ‘70s teen variety show, “The Sensations.”
“Hindi ako pinapabayaan. Kahit na public servant na ako, they are adjusting with me. They are preparing something for me next year—a special, a book and a movie,” said she.
Vilma will soon celebrate her golden anniversary in showbiz, added “TV Patrol.”
